I have checked that the Japanese spider crab (Macrocheira kaempferi) is a species of marine crab that lives in the waters around Japan. The appearance of the European spider crab is similar to the much larger Japanese spider crab, although the latter belongs to a different family of crabs, the Inachidae. Therefore, it’s highly unlikely that a Japanese spider crab would be found on the Spanish coast. It’s possible that the crab in question could be a European spider crab, which is found in the north-east Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea2, or it could be a case of mistaken identity.
I don’t know if it would be possible for this animal to appear on the Spanish coast. I think that the Spanish coasts have a higher temperature than the Japanese coasts, so I don’t know if it would be possible for it to live on the Spanish coasts.
