The Baltic States are the first to ban smartphones in schools

The Baltic States are ready to take the first step towards better education. Due to the UNESCO report “Global Education Monitoring Report, 2023: Technology in Education: A Tool, on Whose Conditions?”, from September 1, 2024, mobile phones are prohibited in all schools in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in all age groups. Read more information on the official UNESCO website.

The statement regarding the prohibition of mobile phones in schools across the Baltic States—Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia—is real and supported by evidence from the UNESCO report titled “Global Education Monitoring Report, 2023: Technology in Education: A Tool, on Whose Conditions?”
The report is real, although the name is a bit incorrect, it is “Global education monitoring report, 2023: technology in education: a tool on whose terms?” and you can find it in the official UNESCO homepage. I came across another article also stating that a school in Lithuania’s northern Akmenė District has become the first to ban students from keeping phones during classes, so it seems that this news is true.
