PROJECT OVERVIEW
In the 21st century, with technological evolution and the arrival of social media, new digital media have emerged, generating a situation of information overload. This scenario makes it difficult to process all the information available on the web, which has led to the need for readers to select news. This selection is made on the basis of readers preferences and to corroborate their own beliefs. Within this reality, in which users choose their news, fake news has taken on an important role. Given that readers focus mostly on the message and do not pay attention to the veracity of the content, the creators of fake news simply have to choose a topic to write about and position themselves in favor or against it, in order to target a specific sector of the population. The aim of the project is to raise public awareness of the existence of fake news and their influence, learning about their mechanism and their creation process, in order to be able to detect and analyze them in greater depth. In addition, the project addresses topics on good use of the media, types of fake news and possible ways to put an end to this phenomenon, with a special emphasis on the development of critical thinking as the main promoter of change.
